I made it!

Reading and reviewing... which do I like better?

Remember me talking about getting on a request a book waiting list, and the title of the book was, Carrot Cake Murder? Well it is the tenth in JoAnne Fluke's, Hannah Swensen mystery series and was released February 26, of this year. Well, I finally got the book and just finished it. Whoo Hoo!! Just in time to start my first book First Among Equals, by Jeffrey Archer, for the I Heard it through the Grapevine, challenge. So tonight I crawl in bed with a new book. :-) I enjoy Jeffrey Archer and will do a review on First Among Equals for I Heard it through the Grapevine. By the way, there are some great books being read by a number of women over there. If you like book reviews, be sure to check in with that blog.

Here is the list of the Hannah Swensen mystery series in chronological order. Although each book stands alone well, and Ms. Fluke briefs the reader on those gaps you would miss by reading them out of sequence, I highly recommend you read them in this order. Every time I picked one up, it was like going home and being with friends and family. Cream Puff Murder, will not be out until March of 2009. Oh well, that will give me time to get a lot of other books read that I have been meaning to get at.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder
Strawberry Shortcake Murder
Blueberry Muffin Murder
Lemon Meringue Pie Murder
Fudge Cupcake Murder
Sugar Cookie Murder
Peach Cobbler Murder
Cherry Cheesecake Murder

Key Lime Pie Murder
Candy Cane Murder   (an anthology collection
with Laura Levine and Leslie Meier)
Carrot Cake Murder

Ack! You're making me hungry!

Kim~ these fall under the catagory of culinary mysteries as well. Hungry? Each book has quite a few yummy recipes, and always the featured title recipe. There are recipes that are not cookie recipes, like the Apricot Bread Pudding yum!, and Clara & Marguerite Hollenbeck's Mexican Hotdish and Black Forest Brownies, that were in this book Carrot Cake Murder, that I will try when I get unpacked. Not to mention Rose's Famous Coconut Cake, that was in Sugar Cookie Murder that I never got around to trying, but will when I get unpacked. Jon, says he is going to find mysteries that revolve around beef since I make the recipes in the books I read. :-)

In August of 2006, I had surgery on a foot. Could not walk without crutches for a month and a half, required twelve weeks of physical therapy and that first two weeks was mostly spent with the foot elevated and almost no walking. I watched Grumpy Old Men and Grumpier Old Men about a million times, over and over because they make me laugh. Laughter is like good medicine, trust me. Anyway, as I came out of the pain reliever induced fog, I wanted to read since I could, and getting around was so hard. I mentioned to Jon, that I would love to find a culinary murder mystery series set in a fishing town like the two movies. That evening he brought home the first in the Hannah Swensen series, Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder. He actually found a culinary murder mystery set in a town just like Wabasha, Minnesota. So, if there is a beef based murder mystery, trust me girl, he will find it. :-)
